doing all that seems like such a meme to me

would be interesting to know how many people get rekt trying to do all cold wallet storage for no reason then "they're going to steal your bitcoin bro" logic

I think people fear property taxes or bans in the future. The risks of bans seems to be pretty much zero now though. Also just a general desire for privacy. But to each their own, I don’t see a reason to argue too much about it either way.

In other news, the US government awarded a contract out for a company to act as a bank for all of their seized BTC and it sounds like they are liquidating some of it.

I’m happy to hear they are liquidating personally. I’d rather the coins be in the custody of people rather than government safes.

Once you get to a certain point of accumulation, you have no real staking benefit. The DeFi apps are what, 0.5 or 1.0 bitcoin at 5-6% then it drops significantly? I’d prefer to store the rest of my stuff in cold storage when I don’t get an additional big benefit from Celsius or BlockFi.
