The WHCA Dinner is part of the swamp ....

Leave that crap for Hollywood. It does not benefit "the people" so it has no reason to be held in the WH. It's just a political red carpet for the D.C. media establishment. They claim it's for journalism scholarships but only 20-25% of funds actually go towards scholarships. Trump should shut that crap down ...

Some people have a sense of humor and would enjoy it. I realize Trump doesn't, so I guess your pragmatic argument works in place of that.

That petulant whinefest has nothing to do with humor.

Huh?
You know it's not held at the White House, right?

There have been some pretty worthless posters in 2009 too.

It was worthwhile when the President would get lightly roasted. That was the case under Clinton and Bush. It lost its purpose when the press spent the entire event genuflecting to Dear Leader Obama. I'm not a fan of Trump's pathological aversion to any criticism, but he's right to ignore it.
here's a brief column from Christopher Hitchens lambasting the Correspondents Dinner under Obama for doing nothing other than serving Obama's personality cult

It's not held at the White House, it's held at the Hilton Hotel.
It is an entirely privately funded event. No taxpayer money is spent.

Hell, I think some of it's funny as hell .... but I don't think our government should be hosting a bs media elite fest disguised as a scholarship fundraiser. Drain that crap!

How is the government hosting it?

Would been a great place to test another MOAB....

The backbone of the event is the attendance of the President, VP, Senior WH official and WH staff. You and I pay for that crap!

Then why did Trump say that he would attend next year?

I have no problem with a President attending the dinner, however, I think it is a waste of time, and wish they wouldn't. If the press wants to have a dinner, more power to them. Have at it. The President doesn't have to be there for them to do that.

The event is private, no tax payers' money is used to support it. It's also held at a downtown hotel, not the White House. And no president, including Richie Rich, can "shut it down."
You're #fakenews.
