They better get to work the minute after jazz fest is over. These tax dollars don't go to them just to sit on their asses
Actually they do. Firefighters are paid to be waiting and ready to respond at a moments notice. They're paid to respond to medical and fire related emergencies. They save lives. They are not paid or trained to do anything that doesn't involve saving lives or resolving emergencies or preparing for those incidents

There is no good moral argument to keep those statues up.
The moral argument about the statues doesn't apply to this protest. This protest is about the improper use of city employees to do a task they are untrained for, simply because they can be ordered to do things by the mayor. Firefighters should only be responding to emergencies, not used in the political dick sucking that Mitch is doing by taking down the statues. The statues are not a fire or health related emergency, therefore the city should not be able to force firefighters to take down the statues. It's an abuse of power that should not go unpunished

Then rest your case on that stipulation. Someone's fiancé came out and said "it's divisive" which implies one of the firefighters rather see those deplorable statues remain there.
If their issue strictly pertains to their work requirements -- fine. The minute THEY start infecting politics into it...is the minute I stop believing them.
And I don't believe them
