3 times it is reported a team jumped us to get a defensive pick. Once by frisco and twice by atlanta. We tried and adjusted to the results.

Yes I understand that, but there were plenty of good DE's on the board at pick 32. That was our greatest need beside CB. Payton and Loomis have admitted as much.
Just because guys we coveted were picked before 32 doesn't mean you go left field and pick an O-lineman.
There were still a plethora of good DE's to choose from.

start okafor, rotate kikaha in pass guaranteed situations, rotate Hendrickson if need fresh body
Just a heads up Okafor was used in a pass rush specialist role last year. He's not an every down DE in a 4-3.
You can expect a lot of Onyemata/Tapp (if he makes it) on early downs, with Kikaha and Okafor rotating in on passing downs.
The hope is to keep a big set in to limit runs, and then bring in the rushers and let them pin their ears backs.

Like who? Who would have been a good take at 32?
I'll give you the answer... no one

You mean all the ones that didn't go until the third round?
I think Willis was the only one who went before 76, and that was what, 1-2 picks before. Edit: It was at 73.
With the "premium on pass rush" you would have thought they flew off the board in the second. They didn't.
Hell Dallas admitted they reached for Taco at 28 (who wasn't even mentioned by Payton as one of the 4 targets at 32; Tak, Foster, Ramcyzk, and an unnamed player who went in the second) but had a second round grade on him.

I like Muhammad at OLB. Seems to be no worse than average in coverage and can also rush the passer.

You know its not over as far as DE despite the doom and gloomers.
There is a good chance a veteran pass rusher will be looking for a job after preseason cuts. Or a trade during camp. Or one of the cast of characters we have lined up actually step up and want the job.

I'll suit up. I got this.

Gwachum is who you are forgetting and he's showed some promise had 2.5 sacks last year and a forced fumble in very limited snaps
I really like Gwachum and think he will be a solid rotation player as he continues to develop his body and learn the nuances of his position.
Glad the Seahawks thought he was raw enough that they could stash him on the PS. He has great length and explosion, just very raw.

Milik McDowell, Demarcus Walker , or even Raekwon McMillan. I also like several DE or LB that went later than that.
Didn't need a OT. Did need DE and LB help!

Cmon man. At 32? I get McDowell went at like 34 but he's not an immediate impact guy next year anyway. We are in "win now" mode

Carl Lawson from Auburn will be a good player. Why Saints passed on him is total idiomatic

I very much believe in Kikaha. He wasn't a 2nd rounder for nothing. He started very hot his rookie year and I believe he returns to that form.

McDowell and Walker were not the type of guys we were looking for (they are bigger guys better suited to play the run than pass rush), and McMillan is a LB.
So again who was there at 32 or 42?

Lawson
This guy? People here bitched enough about taking injured players, yet you think one whose career is going to be very limited because of them would come in and save our pass rush?
There's good reason he "fell" to the fourth. I swear people just wanted guys they heard of because.

How are we in "win now" mode if we didn't address the biggest need on the team?
I'm looking for guys that can improve our Front seven. Malik can damn sure put pressure from the edge , and would have paired great with Jordan.
Our LB'ers are The Who's who of nobodies!
Raekwon would have been an instant upgrade there.
How about Ryan Anderson or Jordan Willis?
Both could have upgraded our LB'ers.
Even Deshaun Hall would have been ok.

I really like this Trey Hendrickson cat... Here is what Mayock had to say about him:
quote:
103. Trey Hendrickson, OLB, New Orleans Saints Analysis: "I like this guy. Daniel Jeremiah and I showed up at the East-West Shrine Game and we both kind of went nuts over this guy. Six-four, 266, he sticks his hand in the dirt and boy does he come after people. And then what I really liked -- people say he has short arms and bla bla bla -- but then he went to the combine and tested extremely well. So you've got an effort motor guy with really good measurables, except for the short arms. And all I'm telling you is New Orleans needs to affect the pass game and he's going to be one of those guys that can stick his hand in the dirt or stand up depending on what they need."
Posted on 4/30/17 at 3:02 pm to supersaints9
Pass rush wasn't the biggest need on the team. Simple as that. You've bought into media bullshite
Posted on 4/30/17 at 3:03 pm to supersaints9
And what makes you think Malik can definitely put pressure? His 1.5 sacks last season? The guys a good player but far from a proven/elite DE talent
