GA too. For better or worse, 16 year olds used to be more adult than your average 30 year old today.
Eta: to the downvoting father of this chick, I'm taking no position on this matter.
And obviously mores change over time, but I'm talking about not that long ago. For example, my grandmother, who would be over 100, but only a generation separates us (duh), was married at 16 and stayed that way happily for 70+ years until my grandfather died.
