Why should some idiot in a different place get to have a say about local metropolitan issues?

You don't have a say because you don't live in a sanctuary city. Your opinion is irrelevant, and I don't feel the need to persuade you.

So a city could do the same thing about abortion right? They could refuse to follow federal law and stop doing abortions for those who want them. In essence, it would be a sanctuary city for the unborn.

How's that answer? Ridiculous.

Dude, we have FEDERAL LAWS against illegal immigration. I'm not a lawyer, but I dare anybody to tell me that a local jurisdiction can adopt laws that run contrary to federal law on this. No way San Francisco, for example, can supersede these federal laws.
