MLS noob discussion

I know there is a soccer noob thread but it appears to be all international.
I recently attended a couple of MLS (Philly) matches for the first time.
How does MLS compare to international. Double A, Triple A??
I have to admit the actual play didn't do much for me. Most of the goals were on a free kick after taking somebody down. Do they tinker with rules? More scoring is probably a common theme amongst new soccer fans.
Things I did like
the pregame festivities were pretty enjoyable.
The loyal fans sections.
A bunch of little kids and tickets are cheap.
I like them booing hurt players. Pretty funny and most seemed like flops.
Fanfare after a goal.
Anybody out there learned to like it while never played or been a fan before. It seems like there is huge growth in sport.

Where'd you sit and what games did you attend? The matches pick up attendance wise once it warms up. First few weeks area always pretty small attendance. Already almost have a sellout for Red Bulls and Rapids matches

Quality isn't as good obviously, but I tend to throw my support towards the MLS and hope others do the same. I really enjoy watching it, and especially now that I have a team to support (ATL United) it's a hell of a lot of fun.
I make no delusions that it's on the same level as the European leagues, but it's a top 15 league or so in the world and rising. I would encourage all soccer fans in the states to support it and it will continue to grow. Already been a tremendous amount of growth in the past 5 years alone.

I for one hope that the MLS prospers and does well. The youth Academies will undoubtedly help with quality down the road much like Europe. For the longest time you'd have to go to college to get noticed and by that time most Americans would be so far behind in development compared to everywhere else. Now you're seeing how a concerted effort to develop young talent at the club level. A lot of them can either sign with their team or go to Europe at a young age and be lightyears ahead of players even 10 years ago.

There's also a huge pool of select teams in the states, overseas players with dual citizenship, and players going overseas to train in Europe. But I'm getting slightly off topic. My point is the bigger the pool of quality players we have the better the overall talent will be. If it gets big enough here with better quality and interest gets to a level such as the NFL or NBA we could even steal some quality players/coaches from Europe. That might be a pipe dream but it isn't impossible.
