People see the way he plays and thinks they have to have him play that way to have a chance. I believe analytics exist that would demonstrate that he decreases his team's chance to win the more ball dominant he is.

Why is a career 31% 3pt shooter taking 7 of them a game? He should be averaging 3 a game. It's as if he has no awareness of his limitations. If he can't even assess himself honestly how can he properly assess the capabilities of his teammates? He's the PG, that's his job.

2016-17 regular season

Thunder are 26-12 when Russ has a usage rate below 40%. They are 20-22, when he's at 40% or above.

Team was MUCH better when he was less involved.
