Looking at this model. Mainly fish Lake P and Lake Borgne. Any owners? Pros and cons to share. Will it handle the chop that can come up in these lakes?

We have a 2015 214XTS. I love it. Perfect for lakes/marsh. Also taken it to 9mile rigs out of Venice.

What you trying to say? Haha
I don't have much experience with NS. The xts has the wide beam so thats good. Id go 250hp since it's a little heavier. The NS look good when I see them.
I think Papapogy has one but 24' and he likes it

Just sold ours but no complaints about it. Rode very well and topped out around 56 with the Yamaha F250 (the 3.3 liter model).
It was a 2014 we bought new, catches fish good, kept us dry.

Have this exact model. Love it. I was running through four horse lake Good Friday when it was windy and choppy and it handled it like a champ. Very dry ride and comfortable to fish out of. The only time I wish I had bought the 24' was in black bay when it was rough but I should not have been out there anyway as it was too rough to even fish or anchor at that. One regret is I got the 200 Yamaha. I top out at 45 loaded out. Not too bad but wish I would have gotten the 250. Let me know if you have any other questions

I'm not a fan of the 21xts due to the 92" beam. It's wet riding.
The 224 xts is a totally different boat and is actually very nice. The 24 is even better if you can swing it. I'm not hating just my opinion on the ones I been in.
The new 227 xts looks sharp too but they proud of them bastards. If you get a 224 get the 250 sho and be done.

The one I am looking at has the 225 SHO. My only question about that motor is it is a 20" motor. Boat has a 25" transom. Motor is on a jack plate. Any issues with this setup?

You will be fine. Grt a 12" plate. The further back your motor is the higher the water is coming off the hull

I have the 6" with a 6" setback and no issues. But again I have the 200 not the 225 or 250 SHO.

Many of them came with the jack plate to accommodate the 20" SHO short shaft because it initially didn't come in 25" shaft. That's a typical set up and should be great
You can now get SHO motors in 25" as of a couple years back

May have to double check this, the motor is a 2015. I just assumed it was 20", thought that was the only way SHO were made.

I'm just saying I know how you guys really feel and I'm not hating

The sho is available in a 25" only on the 250. I have a 200 on my frontier with a 12" atlas hydraulic plate. Runs fine with no problems. Usually runs 10-15 psi sometimes more but they have a low pressure system in them. Great motors for sure. My boat ran 58 with a full tank, two ice chest,3 guys and gear the other day. If I bought a new bay boat it would have a sho on it for sure.
