About 10 years ago when it was wild. There are many more cops and things are calmer now.

Make sure you go to bathroom first...

But it is cold atm, Comal river is a better bet right now. Where will you be staying? Will you be drinking?

Mid June is a good time, it will still be cool though because it feeds from the bottom of a lake through a dam.

We go mid to late August every year. Its blazing hot and makes the freezing water and ice cold beer that much better.
Plus, all the aggies have gotten drunk on the koolaid the entire off-season and it's fun breaking their spirit right before the season starts.
Sorry for no recs on where to stay. I live outside of Austin, so I just go home.

Also check Whitewater for a concert, you can float up to concerts there!

Whitewater is a great rec since you can park there, get in the water there, get a shuttle back there, and stay for a concert. Look at their summer schedule and you may be able to plan your trip around that if someone appeals to your musical interests.
Good call, Donk

Yeah I was trying to avoid the freezing water and blazing sun. Does the water ever warm up?

For a place to stay, just find an airbnb or homeaway rental. There are some nice ones for good prices on the river if you book early enough.

No, like mentioned above water is released from the bottom of the lake. It is always the same temp, freezing cold.

Your body goes numb pretty quick, however you want to go in July-August. It helps having the hot air-temp.

AirBnB or camping is the way to go.

I like Rockin-R out of gruene,tx. You can go around town for some fun shite and end up at the grist mill for a burger and gruene hall for music.

What's with all the wall comments? Do y'all not realize San Antonio isn't in Mexico?

Good luck with that.

We have a very prominent poster here who holds the floats in 1 season record. Can't recall if it's the Guadalupe or Comal--likely both. Perhaps he will grace this thread with his presence and bestow some of his wisdom upon you.
