Nice work baw. Did you do that in Illustrator?

I tried the PS way and there were way too many steps involved. AI is the way to go.

Thanks! I just starting doing these recently.

I mainly use Illustrator for any vector art. Honestly though - there isn't a simple way to do vectors such as this one, even in Illustrator. AI has some nice default settings (Image Trace, High Fidelity Photo) that allow you to convert a bitmap image to vector without any tracing by hand, but it won't have the cartoon look most people desire. You will still have to trace over the image and fill in with colors to achieve that cartoon effect, and it does take 1-2 hours an image in most cases.
