Go look up a TV series titled Gangland. It was shown on the History channel.

Using the military for domestic purposes, in this case combatting MS-13, is exactly what you're saying when you say we should "scale back" the policy.
Unless you don't understand what you're saying. Either way, relaxing laws that were applied for good reason is a horrible idea, and one that opens up a can of worms that could extend far beyond the singular purpose you suggest.

Completely agree.
What about the other street gangs; bloods, crips, cowboys, etc...
They run the same outfits, maybe just not to the same extremes.
