This thread has devolved into arguing over whether circumcision is the same thing and is a microcosm of our national discussion on this.

This is far worse than circumcision. Even if you believe circumcision to be be awful, this is multitudes worse.

People get into defensive modes when it comes to criticizing actions such as these.

"Well, all religions do awful things."

"People circumcise their kids. That's just as bad."

Blah blah blah

Stop shifting the blame.
