I'm just curious, why is keeping gas on hand a problem?

Because I'm forgetful as heck.

Regarding the hour time frame, I mostly don't pay attention to the time I start. I'm giving a rough guess... and I know that the old mower I have is a pain to start, so I couldn't even tell you how much time I've burned starting it before I can get moving.

I think the most annoying part is the lack of self-propelling, as parts of my yard are on an incline. I ain't no spring chicken.

The Neuton I had wasn't self propelled. It was so light it didn't matter. You could run behind it.

If you can get a full cut on a battery, it isn't close, battrry is the way to go.
