The gas mower I have now isn't self-propelled, and it takes about an hour or so to mow

If it takes an hour to cut with a gas mower, I'd assume a battery powered mower would struggle with your yard.. I'm just curious, why is keeping gas on hand a problem?

Also, like I said, I have zero experience with electric mowers, but it seems nearly impossible to fix them when they break.

Because I'm forgetful as heck.

Regarding the hour time frame, I mostly don't pay attention to the time I start. I'm giving a rough guess... and I know that the old mower I have is a pain to start, so I couldn't even tell you how much time I've burned starting it before I can get moving.

I think the most annoying part is the lack of self-propelling, as parts of my yard are on an incline. I ain't no spring chicken.
