Didn't make it today. Friend and his son were there.

OFFENSE and DEFENSE

Defense took a major step forward in responding to Canada's "multi look offense".

Most notable overall, was the presence of Guice early in the day. The "speed differential between #5 and other backs (as well as anyone else on the field) definitely stood out." The scrimmage opened with a couple fo 20+ yard runs by Guice. His observation of each position.

QBs
Danny Etling - Not his most impressive day, Etling was solid. It appeared that formations were "base" sets while he was in the scrimmage. Danny's biggest asset today "appeared to be his command of the offense. It is clear that he has a firm understanding of what Canada wants to do." He took a couple of shots down field on fade routes that he was not able to hook up on, but was able to make a few throws that stood out, including a hookup with Sullivan or Davis (He could not quite remember).

Justin McMillan - came in out throughout the day, and appeared to trade reps with Scott. In his opening drive, made two nice intermediate throws that moved the chains. His first drive ended with an early fumble. There was some problems with center QB exchange, and QB/RB/WR exchange throughout the day, that seemed to be an issue no matter who the QB was. Later, McMillan's group was able to move the ball primarily on the ground, and produced solid results. He did a good job using his legs on at least one play.

Lindsey Scott - Threw the only TD of the day, a 25 yard TD to Stephen Sullivan, who by all accounts, had his best practice of the spring. Scott used his legs quite bit, dropping in the pocket on one play, scanned the field, reversed, and scrambled out of trouble to move the chains. Good ball placement today, which including a dropped deep ball, and a simple hitch that a younger WR could not hang on to.

CONCLUSION: "Hard to compare these guys in terms of efficiency today, due to the fact that Etling seemed to rep at least 3x the reps of the other two."

RUNNING BACKS

Guice only took a few snaps early (and maybe one or two late). But he showed enough to let everyone know that he is Derrius Guice. For a guy who hasn't taken a snap in two weeks, it was good to hear that he was healthy enough to give the defense fits for about 5-8 plays.

Darrel Williams - Continues to improve. Quick and decisive, yet physical. As my friend described him, "Emmit-like".

Nick Brossette - 30-40 yard run early in the scrimmage. Looked physical, and yet again, trucked someone in the secondary.

Lanard Fournette - "Went off today". Showed good speed and burst on a number of plays. Looks to be a good transition guy.

Reshaud Henry 34 - Justin Jones #31 - not as much from these two as last week, but had solid days never the less. With Guice and Fournete taking a few more snaps, does not sound as if they repped as much.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Drake Davis continues to improve, and is starting to transform from a pure vertical threat, to an all around work horse. With the absence of Chark (and possibly Anderson) Sullivan was able to establish his presence repeatedly. Most notably, a 25 yard acrobatic tD reception (from Scott), and a similar ball caught over a corner later (from McMillan). "He's tall, and he makes sure that you know it."

OFFENSIVE LINE
Up and down day for these guys. Pass and Run protection was hit or miss.

DEFENSIVE BACKS
Very few uncontested balls today. Very opportunistic. Tolliver battled with Davis all day. One which went back and forward. Drake was able to come down with a least one big ball in Tolliver's neighborhood, but Tolliver made it difficult through out the day as well. Fulton got quite a bit of work today, and had his hands full with Sullivan to say the least. Gauge and Dillon has a decent day today at slot.

LINEBACKERS

Devin White had another solid day, though Darrell Williams gave him all he could handle at the start of the scrimmage, in what "appeared to be a redzone portion of the scrimmage." From side line to side line, White's motor stood out. Jonathan Rucker #51, (a walk-on LB, who is repping with the twos) seemed to be all over the field today.

DEFENSIVE LINE

MUUUCCCH improved from last week. "Seems like they were in the backfield almost every play.

I want thank my "football dad" for the run down. We love our son/nephew, and love LSU!

Its one thing when a commentator says things like this but when you read it from a fan it doesn't exactly inspire confidence

Patched together last year. KJ Malone says they lack physicality, however the excuse is there was no depth along the OL.

Major key to a championship season or .500 season will be LSU's OL
