Too many variables to make a decision without more context. But in general, I think people should honor their commitments regardless of to whom or what they are.

Yep. I know a couple who gave away their golden retriever because they said it was destroying their house. Well then discipline the mother fricker

I get irritated when I see my neighbors walking the large dogs meant to be outside, not cramped up inside. The times have changed and we simply can't let our dogs roam the neighborhoods anymore. So don't get a large dog if you live in an apartment or a house without a yard and/or fence. That is cruelty and should be treated as animal abuse.
