In a course today that went into this. Also stated for sexual assault cases that go to trial there is an 80% acquittal rate. That's absolutely astonishing, especially with the emphasis placed on sexual assault prevention within the military, or at least the lip service to it.
Article is a year old wanted to give some background to the point mentioned though

The military received more than 6,000 reports of sexual assaults last year, but only a small fraction, about 250, led to a court-martial and conviction for a related crime, according to a new Pentagon report.

Is it because there isn't enough evidence?
Kind of like 2 people getting drunk and having sex then one claiming rape after the fact despite all evidence to the contrary?

Well, as you know, we don't send every infraction to a court martial.
Also, what are the civilian stats for comparison?

For it to be that high there has to be a multitude of reasons, the ones that go to trial though would assumingly have enough evidence to get to that point, and still being acquitted at 80% was amazing

1. How many of these "reported assaults" are legit?
2. You should ask why the Military Justice System is so shitty if true.

Kind of the exact opposite version of how prison commitees have 100% conviction rates for crimes commited while locked up

There are absolutely fake reports and a myriad of other situations, even if we generously assume that is 40% of all claims, which would seem outrageously high, that leaves a lot unaccounted

Which is why #2 is important.

It's because over 90% end in Non-Judicial punishment.
Ding Ding.
Also sexual assault can go "Restricted" or "Unrestricted"
If a victim decides to make their report "restricted", only the people that need to know hear about it. They get access to all of the support that they need, medical, psychological, they can even transfer to a different unit.
Only unrestricted reports result in an accusation.

Good.
We all know most of those "sexual assaults" are post-sex guilt. Glad to see the system is not simply taking the woman's word over the man's.
As yet at any rate.

some of the claims are bullshite
for instance when i was deployed i had been informed by my platoon sgt that one of the soldiers back home from our unit said a girl look really nice.
she told her platoon sergeant to tell the guy to not talk to her and instead had to file a sharp complaint.

Maybe, just maybe, it takes more than one persons word to completely destroy a persons life and throw them in military prison

Some women don't realize the damage they do when they make false sexual assault claims. I know it's a very small portion that are "SAPR Sally" cases, but they cause so many real sexual assault cases to be taken lightly.
