Cry it out. You'll hate yourself for a week and then wonder what to do with all the new sleep you're getting.

It didn't even take a week for us. 3 nights. And the second two weren't even that bad. Wife was completely against it, then one night she cracked and said we could try it. It took a few hours that first night. Went check on him every 10-15-20 minutes. Eventually he went down. Second night was about 20 or so minutes of crying. By the 3rd night, he was sleeping through the night.
I won't pretend like we didn't have our set backs. Nights where he'd just come in bed with us at 1 in the morning. But that was usually when he had an earache coming or something like that.
Since he's been about 5 months old 95% of the time, he sleeps from about 7:30 pm to 7:00 am. There's times on the weekends where he'll sleep until we wake him up. Before that, he was a terror in the sleep department.
