That is easier to do, talk with the super, tell him to frame up a header and then drywall it in so it can't be seen, slip him some money. Then after the wall is completed, you just need a little drywall work, paint and a little wood trim...

The super will not deviate from the builder's plans. Already asked him specifically to do that. All of this is going to have to be done after the house is completed.

that is a great idea if the super has any flexibility at all. Would make the job even simpler. Could possibly even get away with doing no dry walling at all if header is already in place.
sounds like we're beating a dead horse as far as getting changes done now though.

I like the sound of this. Most efficient way, considering the home office builder will not budge.

Screw this builder.
ETAA: if that wall is on the kitchen, perhaps removing it will change a lot of things......
Things like Cabinet placement, Refer placement, Range/cooktop placement, electrical outlets..... There may be more to this than at first blush.
Perhaps there is a reason for te builder's hesitance.
