That appears to be the case. Awful.

Not really that awful

Basically the deal was: Cooks + our 4th for Butler + their 3rd.

We needed a CB really bad and we have more talent at WR than any other position No brainer IMO

Well technically we got to move up a round because we were left holding the bill (no pun intended) while the Butler situation got handled. From what I understand both parties viewed this as an even trade.

It's not a "nice deal".

But it does make us better. frick it. It's done.

Get some pass rushers.

As much as I hate all this as a whole, we did need to get a top notch corner.

Compensation aside (which is what is ticking me off), I think the trade actually benefits us more than them.

We are desparate for a top corner, someone proven. We have 4 young guys with potential. What good would drafting a fifth guy with potential be? We needed a legit 1.

And we have two legit receivers, a TE who is a capable receiver, a back who is a capable receiver, and we just signed Ginn. Receiver was a position we could spare (as much as I hate losing Cooks speed).

On the other hand, did the Pats really need another receiver? Does Cooks actually fit what they can do with what he can do? Isn't Ryan also a FA, meaning they'd be short on corners?

When Bill sets his mind on something no one stands in his way. Why would they? Look at his record. He's been envious of Cooks ever since the joint practices. I think it's a great deal for us and for them. It was clear it was a cancerous situation with both players for both teams.

Just imagine this situation happens:

We get Butler. We draft Barnett.

Suddenly our DL is: Cam-Rankins-Fairley-Barnett with rotations coming in from Onyemata, Davison, Kikaha, Okafor.

Behind them: Robertson-Klein-Ellerbe at LB with Stupar backing them up

In the secondary: Butler, Breaux locking down the outside. PJ Williams, Swann, a newly re-signed Sterling Moore manning the slot. Big ol' Crawley backing up Butler and Breaux on the outside. KV, who was killer last year, in the box. Bell manning the top, with the underrated Erik Harris backing him up.

It looks promising man. Hell of a lot more talent than we've had on that side in a while

Still have a lot of picks and don't need to spend one on a CB.

OLB, DE, S, WR, RB, TE, OL, QB all areas they can address.

Nothing is certain in the draft. Even the Pats have misses in the first round. I've always had the opinion that draft position is almost never indicative of a person's work ethic or their ability to learn the game. Physical ability is easy to assess but it's only a part of the winning formula.

Both teams get proven players that play better than a lot of other 1st rounders at their respective positions. Look at P Rob... 1st round pick and a fairly safe pick but he was average at best.

I thought that was interesting today with Jordan Cameron. He said that he doesn't love football, and how tons of guys who play don't. Thats a hard trait to find I bet, especially because every guy in the process is obviously going to lie and say they love the game. But I'd imagine an actual love for the game has a high correlation with success.

Yup, which is why we needed to do this. We needed a corner that already proved he's good. We don't need a rookie who may never pan out.

Sign Hawkins and we're set at WR and CB.

Can prioritize DE, LB, and FS.

...and RB imo.

Would it have been better to give a second or third? Sure. But we put ourselves in position to have the best corner group in the Payton era. Butler is a stud. Has been since day 1.

Every Pats CB to go through there is great though cause of the scheme so idk....

Kuechly LOVES the game. Brees LOVES the game. You can see it in some guys' play when they truly love the game.

You think we're set at DE/pass rusher?

We already passed on Hawkins, and honestly don't NEED another one (though a better option than Coleman would be nice).

We also don't NEED a HB. We'll sign someone to back up Ingram and maybe take one in the draft.

No. Fixed. Just skipped it, cause everyone and their mom thinks we're going there with pick 11

Well I would be shocked if they don't get a QB in the draft. Depends on what their scouts are reporting at this point. That unfortunately I have no information on.

Don't NEED one, but I think still could use a third down back. Sean agrees. Spiller, too much Cadet usage, etc.
