You guys are going to get sick of me starting threads about bass fishing

Anyway, I'm looking for spots to bass fish from the bank anywhere within an hour or so from Lafayette. I went to Poche's RV park in Breaux Bridge Satuday, and had a good time, caught a couple. But its $15/person to fish all day. I plan to go to the little RV park in Jennings at I10 soon, too. But I'm hoping to find a few free spots I can fish from the bank and actually catch a few bass, just to get some practice. Any suggestions?

Perch or bream spots would also be nice.

I bother you guys simply because i think the OB is the best place to come to for these types of questions/subjects

Fabacher Field in Broussard has a pretty big pond. You probably won't catch a lot, but there's fish in it.

Also, Pelican Park in Carencro has a small pond behind the baseball fields. I've played around in that one a couple times. I caught one really small fish. So, there's fish in it. But probably not a lot. And definitely nothing big.

If you can ever get permission to fish in some of the golf course ponds around here, that's the way to go. I fished in The Wetlands with my dad and one of his friends (who works for them) one day when the course was closed. We rode around in golf carts pond hopping. Caught about a hundred. All between 1 to 3 lbs. My thumb was raw by the end of the day. That was some fun shite. They hit everything we threw at em.

This is exactly what im trying to do. Well that, and learning to work the lures.

I dont care if its nice fish because i dont intend to keep any. Just want to practice for when i can go in a boat, which is every other weekend or so. Figure if i catch enough small ones, im less likely to miss the good one when it finally hits.

When you have a bright moon sneak on golf course ponds after dark, or Mondays when most are closed.

I haven't fished in years, but I grew up in Henderson and we used to catch some in the borrow pits between Henderson and Cecilia on the basin side.

I have caught many, many 5-7+ lbs fish doing this. Some nights so dark that I was fishing completely by sound.
