That is a fair trade honestly.

How is it a fair trade?

Saints would lose Cooks on a cheaper deal with a 5th year option for Malcolm Butler, who's a RFA and due a payday.

We'd be better off trading a pick to Denver or overpaying a FA

Converting Cooks into a good draft pick makes sense with the rookie contract structures.

We do this were getting fleeced.

If we have to throw in a 2nd were essentially trading Cooks for Butler and to move up 11 spots in the second round.

No second rounder included.

Dude.. Cooks is not that great. He's just a product of our offense. He didn't even have a good year last year. Butler is an elite corner. I understand what you're saying with the money situation but Butler is a far better player and a much needed player to make our team better.

and we get an elite CB in return, which we could not acquire in any other way (and would be just as expensive so the cost is irrelevant)
