That's why you don't say anything to a cop/detective. Just say "I want an attorney", nothing else.

If you are guilty - that is good advice from a selfish standpoint. Forget the crime, focus on the process of solving it and put as much interference as possible in the hopes that some inperfection will get you free.

If you are not guilty, you are just bogging down what would be a more rapid solution of the crime. If you didn't do the crime, why would you act as if you did? Don't you realize that if you act guilty, the police will have to expend resources that could be better used in pursuit of the 'real' criminal???

Nah - you don't give a shite. You just want to skate. You must be a very frequent violator of the law to be so adamant about how to get away with it.

screw you and others who engage in the circle-jerk on a routine basis.

CB, if the government was only interested in enforcing the classics (murder, rape, theft) then I'm with you.

The trouble is, we have a myriad of uncountable and unknown "gotcha" laws that people violate every day without even knowing it.

Sure, if I didn't kill anyone I would be happy to talk, if killing was the only issue being addressed.

But now I have to be concerned that I let you, a good friend, have one of my Valiums the other day when you were stressed out.

Or that I transported a water hyacinth plant unknowingly on my boat.

Or that I plowed a field that I have been farming for generations before getting a permit.

Oh, and the tax code. It is stacked floor to ceiling and no one knows everything in it.
It's a virtual certainly that everyone has violated at least one provision of it.

There are countless examples of people being railroaded in the judicial system. It's not my fault cops and ADs in the past destroyed people's lives, but I have the right to shut the hell up so I don't get my life ruined too.

You're as wrong as you could be. It's always good advice. You're pretty ignorant, aren't you?
