I think Mrs Obama is sexy as hell. Mrs Trump is beautiful.

Obama and Carson both properly used the word and both were very poor choices to describe slaves.

Obama happens to be a very comfortable charismatic public speaker, thus he qualified the use of the word more eloquently than Carson. That's the only difference.

Tone has no place in discussions of the English language.
