1656 with around a 25hp motor would be perfect for all those applications. You could literally do anything from pond hop to marsh fish with that rig.

Thats pretty much what i had in mind. I hope to find an old welded aluminum boat with a 20 or so HP motor that will run for a good five years or so for about 3k. Ive been looking on Louisiana sportsman a lot just so i know what to expect once im ready to buy one.

From my experience, a 25hp is great for a 1448 and smaller, but a 16' boat needs a 40 I think.
