No. Just soaked them for 30 minutes.

I keep reading about people wanting them with more heat. If that batch I just cooked were any spicier half the people I had over would not have liked them.

"Shocking" is a myth, like purging crawfish with salt. All the ice does is cool the water enough to stop the cooking process.
