I know there is a lot of hype about McGregor and Mayweather, but seriously, does anyone who has ever done any amount of boxing think that in a strict boxing match McGregor will be able to compete with Mayweather (or any other professional boxer).
He cant kick or grapple and his punchers are going to be about 1/3 the speed of Mayweather. McGregor is going to have to change his stance and complete change the way he throws punches for a boxing match.
I think the whole thing does a disservice to both individual sports.

it's a really dumb idea. Would make a lot of money but FM would beat CM like a rented mule in a boxing contest.

I would be more interested in a McGregor vs Mayweather WWE match.

Floyd would probably win by a late round tko or decision in a boxing match. Conor hits way harder than Floyd and is the bigger fighter. Floyd would play it safe and just outpoint Conor winning the early rounds on points and let Conor gas out in the later rounds. If Conor does hit that miracle shot though he can knock out floyd with one shot. It would be a little more interesting if they compromised and used mma gloves in their boxing match which would give Conor a little more of a chance.

no he won't, being unorthodox is his "advantage".

People are being so stupid about this. Mayweather was scared to fight guys like Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams cause of their size, Conor is significantly bigger than both of them, he's also southpaw. With the right strategy Conor can make it a very entertaining(not necessarily competitive) fight.

Yes, even though MMA fighters strike in their sport, so it wouldn't be AS MUCH of a disadvantage as if a boxer had to grapple, but there are still so many subtleties to boxing that it's still a huge disadvantage for an MMAer to "box" against, especially a boxer as experienced as Mayweather.

Is there a weight limit on the fight? If not, what if McGregor could muscle up to 180+. He seems to be alot bigger and could put on mass pretty easy. At some point, the size would give him some kind of advantage.

I get how gifted Floyd is, but he is really small. Would he stand a chance against a decent Super Middleweight or a Light Heavyweight?
