Anybody mentioned the Caterie? Their Catfish Acadienne lunch special was one of the great secret treasures of BR

RIP

Dude I still have coupons from Rax someplace. They would put a shitload in the Fun section every week.

Apparently they still have 8 locations open. 6 in southern Ohio, 1 in Kentucky, and 1 in Illinois. You still have a chance to see if they'll accept your coupons

The 1902 catalog is at archive.org

I was looking at it a while back. Forget Amazon - Sears was selling food by mail in 1902! Dried food of course, like coffee, beans, and rice.

Rumor is Amazon wants to buy Sears for B&M locations.

I knew they had a few left. I've often fantasized about hitting the lottery and buying them to respread that Rax gospel.

Just went through the whole thread and as usual no one mentioned Bono's Pizza.

Great prices, good pizza. Unfortunately they closed right as I started at LSU.

Why am I the only one who remembers this place?

What the hell. Where was this at? There's a Gibson's in kerrville and I always thought it was just a local store.

Really miss having breakfast at The Bread Basket on Florida with my grandparents.
I think this place is the reason I'm partial to a good, small personal diner...that and dive bars.

Killer roast beef sandwiches.

Checkers Fun Shop
Round The Corner
Leisure Landing (the original, on Chimes behind The Varsity)
Hopper's
Allesi's Drive Inn (sp?)
Picadilly on Third St.
Blimpie in University Shopping Center
TG&Y in University Shopping Center
The original bowling alley at The Student Union
Tic-Toc
Bates and Thigpen
Mike and Tony's on Government
Bob and Jakes Supper Club on Scenic _ Looked like something out of a Sinatra or Humphey Bogart movie. Just fricken awesome.
Noah's Arc on Highland at Lee and also Jefferson Hwy.
The stables and pens behind the Cow Palace
Theriot's tomato / produce stand on Highland by Kennilworth
The original Pinetta's and the original Mike Anderson's seafood that was in the old, dilapidated College Town Grocery, Highland and LSU Ave.
Everything in Westmoreland Village.
The City News Stand Downtown
Tigerino Slot Car Lanes - Corner of Highland and Chimes (this will be in heaven)

But most of all, Andrew's Drug Store at corner of Government and Acadian - best grill / soda fountain in BR and Ourso's Grocery on Highland near Leeward - I made a trek there weekly on foot to buy Baseball Cards.
