Officials urged people in the area, in the city's southwest, to shelter in place. Police reported one or two suspects on the loose, according to Fox 26. An additional suspect was killed in the gunfire, according to KTRK. Police were approaching a home in a burglary call when shots rang out, sources told Fox 26.

One officer with non-life threatening injuries will be ok, hit in the leg and grazed in the back.

I watched the live news chopper feed of the massive police escort the two ambulances had to the TMC. They literally shut down the entire route (freeways and roads) for those ambulances to haul arse there together from the scene. Never seen anything like it.

Two ambulances, escorted by several HPD units, rushed both injured officers to the Texas Medical Center. Officer Ronnie Cortez is in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital with several gunshot wounds. One bullet is lodged near his spine, according to the mayor. Turner said Cortez's wife is at his side and he was able to speak with her. The couple have a college-age daughter who was out of town but she is being flown back to Houston. Cortez is a 24-year veteran. "His condition has improved some since when he first got here," EMS Director Dr. David Persse said. Persse said he is conscious and alert.

SWAT sweeping the neighborhood house to house now. One suspect dead in the initial firefight, one, possibly two still at large believed to still be hiding in the neighborhood within the perimeter.
Hispanic burglers, apparently with stolen weapons.

It seems like the shittiness from Sharpstown continues to creep outward.

What are the odds that the suspects will be Illegal immigrants?
