First, you can eat a fertilized egg if you pick it up soon after being laid. For me in Metairie, when I discovered I had a rooster I called a byddy in the country and gave it to him. Did not want to be a nuisance. I have heard someone with a rooster a few blocks away when it crows. Lol...... Actually most of my neighbors say they wouldn't mind hearing a rooster crow but I had one years ago that would crow at 3:00 am. He had to go. But, for those that don't know it, and there are those that think that a chicken can have chicks without a rooster and those that think roosters lay eggs too. Lol........

you can train that rooster to crow at specific times. mine crows at 6:00. Tells my wife and cousin to get out of bed and get the coffee ready
