To build trust with the people he governs.

Was he audited? I mean I don't understand the problem here.

How exactly can you "force" someone to release their tax returns?
That's what happens when you work for the people
Why? So you people can exhibit false outrage at his write offs? I would release them either.

You have to see someone's tax return in order to trust them? Right

How can you make your employees hand over their cell phones to check for leaks?

I'd say proof that the American President was actually a citizen is more important than if he paid his fair share in taxes.

The idea that by releasing his returns, trump would win over those on the left is laughable. They would find something in them to be outraged at. and then their whole spiel about "wanting to build trust" will be revealed to be nothing but a quest for political points.
You liberals have shown time and time and time again that you have an a-priori dislike of the man, a pre-conceived notion that he is the worst thing to ever happen to your life, and you'll justify ways to hold onto that sentiment for the rest of your life. He will never, ever be able to win you over so why try to cave to your demands?

Nobody cares
Hope this starts a new tradition of presidents not releasing their tax returns.

Yes most of which were politicians whose salary was already public information. What wasn't made public is the Financials the hid from public knowledge through foundations and trust.

The only people who care about this are people who will never like him. Donald trump was the first of LOTS of things in 2016.

Turmp should release his returns but the idea that democrats in congress can force him to do it is laughable.
I honestly don't care if he does or doesn't

He should release because he said he would, although I don't care about what's in then at all and really think it's a stupid tradition to begin with.
The problem is that he knows the second he does, there will be a week long barrage of fake news stories about every line item in the returns.

In the future I see a rich Democrat heading towards the white house and him not turning them over either because of this. Supporters of this can't get mad then. Needs to be a requirement from both parties.

40 years? So it's been like 6 presidents in a row? I hardly think that is going to break the POTUS legacy.
