There were two other participants in these incidents and they received respective sentences of 2 and 4 years.
This judge is off his rocker. Citing the Dylan Roof case is further proof of it. These are people who made a very bad decision, but no one was physically harmed. Now multiple children will be spending their formative years without one or more parents. I'm sure they'll be perfectly normal.
In a situation like this, give them a little time in jail, hang a bunch of time over their heads if they can't successfully complete a stiff probation and be productive citizens. This judge has done more harm than good in trying to look tough on crime and appease the black community. I wonder if he's seeking further political office.
