The tigers are burning. Soviet pov of the battle of kursk.

Ordinary men. Talks about how some German soldiers were just ordinary people just following orders. Basically plays Devils advocate. Interesting read

Similar to The Tigers are Burning, check out The Cross of Iron by Willi Heinrich about the German infantry on the Eastern Front. It's well-written historical fiction.

If you like detective stories, Philip Kerr wrote a series about a German police detective.

Alan Furst has also written some good historical fiction. Spies of the Balkan is a great read.

Soldat, reflections of a German Soldier. was a good read (i read it after it was recommended in a thread like this) interesting to hear the German perspective on the war, and why they went along with it originally, but then it snowballed out of control.

My all time favorite is Unbroken. Flyboys and Ghost soldiers were also good.
