Why does every former Pel/Hornet always become elite after they leave?

Frick Eric Gordon for not getting injured now and hitting 3's. Mad respect to Anderson, but damn he's now all of a sudden a good rebounder when all I remember him doing in New Orleans is shooting

anderson has always been one of the better offensive rebounders in the league at his position
