If they can't find you and if you have the money tied up in a system that they can't reach, who cares? Of course absconding with $100 million is going to carry some risk. But going to a country where you can't be extradited makes your life A LOT easier.

My point is your first move is going to a country to disappear the easiest, countries that don't extradite is not a long list it really limits your options potentially. Furthermore, that's going to be some of the first places people look.
