re: What age should a child be handed a cell phone?

We decided to get the kids phones when they started traveling to away games for school sports. The boy was in 9th grade for baseball and the girl 8th grade for softball (made high school team). Both got cheap Samsungs for first phone. Bought the boy a IPhone when he became a senior. We did this because we couldn't make all the away games and they could call us when the bus was getting close to the school so we could pick them up.
