Holy shite. Didn't realize it was this bad. Apparently disengaging the safety will fire some model 700s. Anyone else watching?

Yep. Scary seeing the videos of it firing when the safety is taken off.

Never ever have a gun pointed at anyone at anytime, #1 rule of firearms safety, follow it and no matter what goes wrong you won't kill anyone
And I'm calling bullshite on that kid, how do you hear a click then the gun goes off

Does it come on again? I just got a 700 rig and it's always in the back of my head.

that kid shot the hell out of his brother. He aint foolin anybody.

I came in on it late. Did y'all not see all of the videos of the 700 owners'? It clearly showed the rifle firing with nothing touching the trigger as soon as the safety was disengaged.
I don't know if the brother did it or not. Regardless, I knew that the QC had gone down in the Remington world, but I had no idea it was this bad. They're talking about a million plus guns out there that have this defect.

Remington is trash now. I have two old remingtons from my youth, but I wouldn't ever own another one. I hope someone sues the shite out of them.

I had heard about his but thought it was something that was found and recalled already. This is something fresh?

How old of models does this happen with?
Posted on 2/19/17 at 8:16 pm to T4
I think I heard them say '06 was the initial model but then there was another one after that model that had the same problems. I need to research it more. I did hear them say that of all the defective triggers out there that only 1 in 4 of them had been fixed.

As part of a federal court settlement, Remington will replace the triggers on 7.85 million rifles. This recall also affects the Remington Model 7 with X-Mark Pro triggers manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014.
I'm fully aware that I'm late to the party here. I just had no idea it was this bad. Almost 8 million rifles?!

There are millions of them out there. I just hope none of our neighbors have one and are dumb enough to chamber a round at home while it is pointed in our direction.
They showed an example where a former Marine had his go off inside the house and shoot two girls (one fatally) who were across the street.
You can often go to the CBS site and watch 60 Minutes segments.

Something you all need to keep in mind is that CBS is anti-gun first and foremost. They've been running hit pieces and various gun manufactures for years. The Remington X-Mark trigger issue is known and has been dealt with. Anyone unintentionally killed or injured by any firearm is solely the fault of whoever was handling the firearm. Nowhere is any of the basic rules of firearms safety does it state to rely on mechanical safties. The kid who killed his brother violated the very first rule of firearms safety. The incompetent Marine did as well. It would do a lot of you a lot of good to do some background research on the parties who sued Remington and the so-called expert they hired to testify against Remington.

I think you missed my point.
I agree with you. My point was just how bad Remington's QC had gotten. Forget the lawsuits for a second.
Can you imagine having the deer of a lifetime broadside at 50 yards?
Now imagine going to click that safety and it firing prematurely before you had the crosshairs exactly where you wanted them. Now imagine it did that every round after that too.
