Some things I read about Pete's NBA career include that his teammates didn't like him during his rookie season but ended up loving him by the end of the year. Then, he gets a horrible sickness just before his 2nd season and loses 25 lbs and it takes the full year to regain his weight and get to full speed.

He played a few exhibition games with Dr. J when the Hawks thought they had his rights. They were a match made in heaven with Pete averaging 14 assists/game and winning big.

With the Jazz, the team had no talent for the initial few years but were finally going to make the playoffs when their PF had a season ending injury with about a month left.

Then Pete gets the horrific knee injury, which possibly could have been fixed better these days but was never the same for him after that.

He goes to the Celtics and becomes a role player but retires because of his knee issues. The Celtics win the championship the following year.

His NBA career was really impressive but ultimately more of a 'what could've been'.

Doctor J said he has great memories of the two preseason games with Pete. He said if you were open, Pete would get you the ball.
Those two would have made Atlanta a basketball town.

Pete's knee wasn't the problem, his head was. He could still play. He scored 38 in the intrasquad game and retired the next day.
