It's possible that you are experiencing cluster headaches. They will wake you up from a dead sleep. It feels like an ice pick jabbing you behind the eye. They are a lot like an alarm clock...same time every night. They will usually last for about 2 hours. They may last for a few weeks then clear up for weeks or months and they'll start up again.
I just read the whole thread and saw that you had been diagnosed with cluster headaches. Have you tried taking sumatriptan or is the pain quick and fleeting?
