Warner Bros. is courting the actor-director to helm Suicide Squad 2 and the sides are early in talks, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. No official offer has been made nor has any commitment. Sources say that Gibson is familiarizing himself with the material. But the studio is not being passive and it is also looking at other directors, Daniel Espinosa among them.

Now that would be interesting

Oh dear sweet baby Jesus let this happen

Maybe the only good idea they've had since hiring Ben Affleck.

Good god warner bros. Just fricking nuke the whole damn DCEU after WW and Justice League, sell the franchise to a competent studio and make a pretty penny off of it.

Critics: "You'll never trick audiences into seeing another Suicide Squad movie."
Warner Bros.: "Hold my beer."

I highly doubt it happens. Mel's talked alot of crap about comic book movies, it's not his thing.

There aren't enough downvotes in the world for you today. We'll have to pull some in from other planets.

He also blamed all wars on the Jews, and then made a war movie produced and distributed by Jews. I doubt they'll get him for this film, but the guy is about as predictable as a cat on cocaine.

This would be amazing

Are there any Jewish villains in the D.C. universe?

This DCEU is still a sinking ship and is still going to make shite movies.
Hiring Mel Gibson is just basically putting lipstick on a pig and only prolongs the inevitable to what really needs to be done.

Marvel has quite a few, but I'm drawing a blank for DC.

Dreidelman??

I'd rather not have a guy who has openly shite on comic based films in the past direct a comic movie.
That's begging for an end result that will massively turn off the built in fanbase which leads to lesser box office returns. It's not like there are any real world examples they could draw that conclusion from. The worlk by Josh Trank and Zack Snyder never happened amirite?

I wouldn't call it that just yet. After three films, the DCEU has taken in around $2.3 billion worldwide. The MCU made half that with their first three films. And that's with all three DCEU films being "rotten" on Rotten Tomatoes and all three MCU films being "fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes.
If Wonder Woman is a box office success this summer, no matter the reviews, then the DCEU is here to stay.

Variety reports that the studio is also eyeing Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies).

Exactly. This board just loves to overreact. I didn't like SS, but that movie made $750 million at the box office. It's simply ridiculous to call it a sinking ship.

Those 3 films also had Superman, Batman, and the Joker, the two biggest superheroes and villain. No one knew much about Marvel's characters before they debuted or what their grand plan was.
I was having a hard time seeing how the Avengers could actually work until 2012 when it came out. Both MoS and BvS were box office disappointments. It's sinking.
