I had him at a minimum of 8 but likely not more than 12 this year.

Around 10-11 sacks. That's based off Barnett's ability alone but he will also benefit from the attention that Fletcher Cox will receive.

But given our current coordinator it is very true. All this off man/zone playing 8-10 yards off and giving up EVERY pass to backs and short passes to TEs and WRs it doesn't matter who we have rushing.
With Allen's scheme you need top notch corners that can read the play and fly up on any short passes. Vaccaro greatly helps in this regard but we need other guys like him.
This is why you are a good poster. I can respect this type of answer because it has actual thought & truth behind it. The other responses so far are bullshite without any insight behind them.

Again, a solid post.

Cornerback was the #1 defensive need. No one thought ML would be there.
imagine Breaux hurt and no ML in the lineup at this point.

You can easily say the need for a DE & CB were 1a & 1b. The Saints took the player who they rated as the higher graded prospect amongst the players who were available. While CB was indeed a position of need, how confident are you that this regime took the top defensive player at a position of need this past draft? In 11 drafts under Payton, the Saints have managed to draft 3 Pro Bowl defensive players. Cam Jordan, Malcolm Jenkins & Roman Harper. Jenkins Pro Bowl appearance didn't even occur with the Saints yet we as fans are supposed to trust & believe the front office made the right selection in the 1st round this past draft? The overwhelming evidence suggest otherwise & that the organization doesn't have a clue as to what to look for in defensive prospects.

Only if you suck our dicks first.

I'm not suggesting DE was not a need but we've been sliced and diced in the secondary for years.
Never seen a team go for two at the end of a game and if they don't make it lose the game.
I think if ML was not there the pick was DE, even if it was going to be a reach.

In that same timeframe, the team has been at the bottom of the league in QB pressures.

You can very well make the argument that teams have done this because they don't fear the pass rush & have faith their QB will have ample time to find an open receiver.

The term reach only applies when one player is graded higher by a team than another player. Again, it wouldn't have been a reach if the current regime had a solid history of drafting defensive players. Who is to say that the team's rating system was correct to begin with? Have they not made numerous mistakes in the past? The most glaring one so far has been Stephone Anthony over Eric Kendricks in the 2015 draft.

You can throw all kinds of stats out there, check this one out: LINK
If your suggesting that quick fade in the endzone for two was enough time to be pressured, I disagree.
Crawley BTW: 2 point play

Lol That was a blitz look that left the outside corners alone in man coverage with lone CB getting any help was De'Vante Harris with inside help from Byrd. Dennis Allen brought 3 extra rushers yet no one managed to get free against 7 in pass pro. Man on man. The whole point of blitzing is to fool the offense, creating space for an unblocked rusher to apply immediate pressure. Not one defender is able to come free nor does any defender win their one on one matches. As a result of this, Allen created an advantage for the Raiders. They got a match up of a rookie corner versus a veteran WR who has topped 1000 yards twice while having 43 career TD receptions. The presnap look Allen gave the Raiders lead to the outcome of the fade to Crabtree otherwise Carr would have audibled & changed Crabtree's route at the line of scrimmage.
Also, the lack of a pass rush along with Breaux's injury is what allowed the Raiders to come back in that game to begin with. Had the defense had any type of pass rush, they should have been able to overcome the loss of Breaux & been victorious that game.

Barnett has rushed the passer 42 times in his 59 snaps across two preseason games, getting home three times for sacks, but also racking up an additional two hits and four hurries. He owns the league’s second-best pass rushing productivity score so far this preseason among 4-3 defensive ends. The Eagles own the top three scores as a team.
This part kind of invalidates the whole thing, imo.
Is it the talent of the Ends, the scheme, the offensive lineman, or the QB holding on to the ball too long?

Dude he threw that ball in under 2 seconds

One because Carr read blitz & recognized man coverage on the outside receivers presnap. He could easily see everything out of the shotgun. Secondly, the blitz was not disguised very well at all. How hard is it for you to comprehend that a different coverage by Dennis Allen on that play would have dictated a different route by Crabtree & not the fade?

You know you are so funny. regardless of the formation they came into that set to play for two. They did so because they thought our DB's would not stop a 2 point conversation.
How many times have you seen that at the end of a game when you can kick an extra point to tie the game?

Which is meaningless in terms to the point I am making.

The fade was thrown because the Saints were in a press man look on the outside with their CBs that gave a match up of a rookie corner vs a veteran receiver. BASED ON THE SAINTS COVERAGE, THE FADE TO CRABTREE WAS A NO BRAINER. Had the coverage been off man, Carr would have more than likely changed (audibled) Crabtree's route to a slant. Del Rio's decision to go for 2 was made well before the touchdown was ever scored & it had to do with not wanting to give Brees & the offense another opportunity at HOME in OT.

Well we will have to disagree, they came out for a 2 point play. Video shows they left the huddle and never brought a kicker out and had no idea what the saints were gong to do.

It's neither. Just Barnett winning his one on one matchups like a good player does. It's why I posted the endzone view clips of him winning his one on one battles.

Barnett has 3 tackles in 3 games zero sacks
Didn't manage a tackle or sack against the lowly Giants OL today
How will you spin this
