A good friend of mine installed a pool and another friend of ours who is very mechanically minded watched the process. He said that once the hole was dug, the rebar laid and the plumbing installed, then the concrete company sent out the guys that blew and finished the gunite. He said a square design would be a simple process after watching the construction.

Watched my parents get done. It's not extremely complicated, that's for sure. But at the same time, I would imagine you'd have to know a little about rebar as well as an understanding of the plumbing layout. I realize you are subbing out the plumbing, but you'd need to know how it would integrate into the design. As was said, a square would be easier.
