Yea I knew yesterday that St. Aug wasn't going to be allowed to go through with this all the way.....I'm sure they got a stern talking to from the diocese about this.

Frank Wilson did a great job of prioritizing NOLA guys, and the HS coaches know this, they got spoiled. NOLA is such a hot bed of talent, and they feel like they have leverage because of it. We lost NOLA years ago and LSU recruiting was impacted by it. Saban did a great job of getting it back when he was at LSU.
Yes, Burton Burns does a great job in NOLA for Bama. The HS coaches have to feel like "thier" guys get the gravy over other players. Wilson pulled that off. I think O will find a happy medium, as it is not just about NOLA guys.

I agree. I live in Mobile because of my job. If the local high school coaches publicly went after Bama or Auburn that would be their arse. They would never coach in the state again.
This. But LSU has never had that kind of influence on HS programs. That's why a Kenny Bell, who trashed LSU while having a meh career at Bama, gets a job at Ruston. LSU has no chance there for a big time recruit.
LA HS coaches have no similar fear. Bama knows this and gets coaches and handlers in their back pocket. But it only works if LSU puts all of their eggs in "The Fence" basket. This empowers the HS coaches.
If LSU keeps getting OOS guys like Phillips to replace a Moses/Allen, then Bama's ploy loses effectiveness. Then eventually the influence slows down.
You don't think Ohio HS coaches do this to Meyer? He just goes and gets 3 top 10 guys from Texas.
