We were down by double digits the majority of the game, including by 20 most of the second half. Kentucky didn't play much defense and we made some 3's in the last 2 minutes to make it look closer than it was.

A few things enabled this unlikely scenario IMHO:
1) Kentucky just was not excited about playing us, their fans weren't, nobody was.
2) Our kids played with an intensity and energy very seldom even reached for a few minutes in any other game. Happens a lot with teams who play Kentucky, the kids are excited to play them as it's a big stage in front of a lot of fans. We have kids who can play, they just for several reasons have not with any consistency.
3) Kentucky playes almost as bad a team defense as we do. Their D was gawd awful. Cal should even get some grief for it, because usually he at least gets his prima donnas to play hard. He ain't with this bunch.
