We had a little car before without air. It was rough but I made sure to never keep him in for long periods of time. It was certainly better than waiting on the side of the road for the bus or walking. Thanks for the links, I am going to look into Craigslist posting. That car for 2k looks like a great deal. I will definitely contact them tomorrow and see if they are willing to negotiate. Thanks everyone. You guys have helped me immensely!

If you go to Auto Yes, ask for Jay. He is a great guy. Tell him you know CajunSuperJeff, and you are in.

And No, I am not Jay. I am Jeff.

If you live close to LSU, go see Mr V at University Texaco on highland past the north gates of campus. He buys and sells vehicles along with the mechanic business. If he doesn't have what you're looking for on his lots he can find it for you. My family has bought numerous cars through him. And he's trustworthy, which goes a long way when buying a used car. He won't sell you junk.

Call the main office of area assisted living and retirement homes, as if they have a board that advertises items for sale by residents, and be upfront about what you are looking for. Health issues can cause the elderly to suddenly have to stop driving. Many of their cars are old, have low book value, but also low mileage. Often their families are not local and they just need to quickly sell the car. I once found a old but very low mileage truck at a reasonable price this way.
