Would you feel like you took advantage of someone in this situation?

Our building has a service where you go on in the morning and they have a selection of restaurants and it gives you a delivery time.

So I order food, a 9.99 lunch special and it comes 20 minutes later than the designated drop off time and my order is not correct. One of my sides is missing and the other is incorrect. As per the confirmation email I call the restaurant to let them know my order wasn't what I expected. Which I didn't do to get something out of l, I just wanted to make then aware it was wrong. The manager offered to bring me my missing side, which I assured him wasn't necessary. He then offers to bring me a gift card, again I tell him not necessary. He then insists on mailing me a gift card. So hes mailing me a gift card for $25. I later get ab email from the delivery service they're crediting me 20% because it was so later.

I feel bad for essentially getting a $25 gift card on a $10 meal. I was thinking about just going and leaving a tip for the amount of the gift card. WWTOTD?

What did you call for if you didn't want the missing side?

I wouldn't feel bad. If you do just let the card go unused problem solved.

So you're getting almost 3 free meals out of it. That's really good on their part. I'd tip near 100% on my gift card orders to let them know I appreciate it, plus it helps someone out and could make some kids day.

What's the point of calling then?

Them offering you something is typical service recovery, just accept it and move on.

So when they messed up you informed them they messed up. But when they offered to make the mess up right, you refused to let them do so.

Good Lord this isn't rocket science.

You got a free gift card because they fricked up.

I respect that you didn't trash the business by calling out the name of it because of the error. Delivery meals are so error prone that it scares me. I have lowered my expectations in situations like this. It makes it easier on my. Just my 2 cents.
