Ordinary People and Redford over Raging Bull and Scorsese aren't on the list?

There's very few things better for a film's critical reputation than losing the Academy Award in a perceived close ballot. And few things worse than winning in that fashion.

Ordinary People

Why does Crash get so much hate and this is always glossed over?

At least Crash was somewhat entertaining (albeit sometimes for unintentional comedic effect.)

Ordinary People is not only the biggest downer of a film...it's a nothing of a film...it's a short story...it's not even half as good as In the Bedroom (Which also is tremendously mediocre but similar themes and similarly lauded.)

Every single film nominated for Best Picture that year should have won over Ordinary People...every one.

Especially Elephant Man and Raging Bull...even Coal Miner's Daughter and Tess.
