Well since Jaluke was so successful this year wth RB recruiting they probably should keep him.

Makes plenty of sense. Craig has been linked to half a dozen job openings in the last two months. In fact Craig's most likely landing spot is Bama, where his biggest target just signed.
So Craig steers him to Bama where he will (maybe) soon be coaching?

I would think that those recruits heard about possible coaching changes from Saban.

Stupid knee jerk decision!! Craig is a great recruiter!! He was close with Ausbon and actually was the only reason that LSU was still in it with Devonta Smith... Boooo! Also I saw improvement from LSU's reciever play last year.
This is so stupid on so many levels.
"Close" gets you nowhere. You either bring the guy in or not. No such thing as 2nd place.

LSU was never truly in it for D. Smith. That was all BS. A friend saw him at a home game. He works the games and shows recruits around. D. Smith comments were "how much longer do we need to stay". That was him speaking to his friend. Same shite as always. They are told to play the game to get the other team wasting resources and time. Then you alienate another recruit. Move on.

Definitely didn't mean to say that like it's what happened, just that I could see how that could lead to some awkward conversations in the ops building. Craig would be blacklisted if he ever pulled anything like that.

It's simple: we flunked on recruiting running backs and receivers in 2017. The coaches are fired. No production, no paycheck. Move on!

Canada wanted to bring in his own guys.
I can live with Powell as RB and even if they wanted to make him STC/RB - he has a solid resume and, although only 1 year at an SEC school (and that was USCe in 1990, their last year pre-SEC) - he has recruited over a good bit of the South.
Sherman would be acceptable as a WR coach, as well, but wouldn't be earthshaking.

Good timing. Get those recruits signed and then fire the coaches who did the recruiting. Or was CEO dissatisfied with their recruiting efforts?
Yeah all those RBs and WRs we signed will be pissed

You can't go all in on the top RB and strikeout without a backup plan.

All three of them....

It's the current WRs and RBs that aren't too happening. Look at Guice and Dee Anderson's twitter today

Knee jerk huh?? I suppose that's why it was well timed and thought out? Knee jerk would have been to fire them with Miles, Cam ect.
This was well thought out and with the keeping of Aranda, hiring of Canada, and Bobby April I'm sure LSU will once again upgrade drastically at these positions. Better yet your response seems by definition knee jerk! HTDTB

Could be part of Canada's overall plan and bringing Curtis Johnson is part of that.
This right here, idk about the CJ part, hope it's true but Canada definitely had a say in this and regardless I'm sure they are well aware of guys they can get here. If y'all think they just fire folks without talking to others then my god y'all have no clue or really underestimate coach O and his leadership abilities. This was the reason he was brought here, clean it up, hold everyone accountable daily, including players and yes apparently coaches too. This is a huge breath of fresh air if you ask me, Miles never had the balls to do this, which played a part in his firing IMO. HTTB

They'll get over it.
Remember the players twitter post when Miles was fired?
Compare them with the ones when O was hired as HC.
Trust me they'll forget who Jaluke and Craig were by spring camp.

I agree with BayoBengal. Coach O is such a likable guy there is kind of a perception that he is too nice to do what is necessary. This move shows that he cares enough about the program to do what needs to be done and is not concerned with potential public opinion. This actually makes me feel more confident that he is ready to run the program.

Seriously though, you actually have to land recruits. Being close doesn't count for anything
So does the guy recruiting DT for us this year get fired too?
