2013 Draft 1st Round ST vs. FO

Jarvis Jones was a strong most wanted on ST in 2013. The Saints passed, took Vaccaro, and many were disappointed. Looks like it's fess up time that the front office might know more than we do...
Rotoworld-
The Steelers are not expected to re-sign free agent OLB Jarvis Jones.
A prolific college pass rusher who is simply not athletic enough to provide the same effect in the big leagues, Jones has managed six sacks across 50 NFL games. He has evolved into a solid run defender, but lacks the ability to disrupt passing games. 3-4 defenses in need of an edge setter may give Jones free agent consideration, but he won't break the bank. Jones is 27 years old.

Vaccaro had a great rookie year and a handful of good games past that but he's not necessarily playing to a 1st round talent level

Besides Cam, Kenny V is arguably our best defensive player (I know, I know), but still. He has lived up to the billing of his first round pick status. He's a good football player and core piece of our defense.

Then the 2014 draft happened
Plus we're still trying to fill the hole at LB/Pass rusher that people wanted Jones to fill.

No telling what Jones would have been in our defense. Probably worse with Vitt as his coach.
But I'll own up to it. That was one of the few times I lost it on ST.

2015 ST vs FO, we would have won Kendricks > Anthony
Bud Dupree and DeVante Parker were favorite here and Peat beats them by far

I was much angrier about the Peat pick. I wanted Devante Parker sooooo bad because I saw our need for WR... I hated that pick so much. A fricking tackle!?!? We have Armstead and strief!!
I was wrong about Peat, and we ended up with a way better WR in the 2016 draft, so it all worked out.

I mean we found that pass rusher in 2013
Then he went crazy
Vaccaro has been a very good player for us

I'm not ready to give up on Peat. I think he can play RT for some crazy reason.
some guys just have a steeper learning curve. The league is different now and not every player can develop as quick as you'd like.
I feel like a big reason that the supposed "quality of play" has dropped off is because of the shorter practices under the CBA.
that and half arse coaching which Payton is finally doing something about.

Peat ended up being a hell of a draft pick with Armstead's health.
I'll quote this idiot:
You're obsessed and wrong
I'll quote this idiot:

Hey 90, I was the one who nicknamed him Project Peat last season. And yes he deserved the nickname. But , I'll admit that he has found his home at LG and playing extremely well. Hope your new nickname for him sticks and mine fades away!!!!!

Unger, Streif and Evans all graded out this season better than Project Peat!
Armstead would have too if he'd been healthy. So basically PP is our lowest graded starting OLmen going into next year. Nice job for a 1-13.

Unger and Strief played as well as anyone in the NFL at their positions and weren't covering 2 spots. Evans got to play next to Unger and Strief, and he was absolutely pathetic once Unger went down.
Peat played well for a 2nd year player and certainly looks like a long term solution for our offensive line that adds versatility.

So, tell me, do you think that Evans is better than Peat?
Armstead, Peat, Unger, and Strief are a hell of a unit. RG is the only weakness there.
Btw, the idiot I quoted was you....
quote:
The constant position change by Peat is "tough to do," coach Sean Payton said. "And yet he's been able to do that."
"In fairness to him, he's handled it really well," Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael said. "I think we try to pay attention to where we think he's going to play that week and get him the most reps at that spot as possible."
And my favorite:
quote:
"It's been fantastic," Payton said of Peat's progress. "He's playing well."
Saints right tackle Zach Strief knows what it's like to be the target of unruly fans, and he thinks Peat has silenced those critics.
"That guy took a lot of criticism for no reason for a year and a half," Strief said. "People are obviously entitled to their opinions -- people who were obviously wrong. And I love that for him."
"I think it's hard to quantify how valuable it is to have a guy that you can start at a position and slide him out to tackle and have him play at a high level," Strief said. "There's so few of those players in the NFL.
quote:
"I'll tell you right now: If he stays at left guard when Terron's healthy, people are going to dread playing those two," Strief said.

Peat will never have the career that Jahri Evans had!!
Since you are so good at quoting, let's revisit this next year and see who evaluated Peat correctly!!!

My biggest complaint about Peat was that he has not delivered as a 1-13 should have by now!!!
